Floor tile has to withstand weight and wear, so it is usually thicker and harder. Wall tile is lighter and is not made to be walked on. Every product lists the areas it suits, such as floor, wall, kitchen, bathroom or outdoor. Choose by that list, and never lay wall only tile on a floor.
